How Their Story Began
Cait met Nick at the Beverly Hills Tavern while she was home from Florida visiting family and one of her girlfriend’s needed a night out. Cait decided to go to Beverly Hills because it was an outside bar and that is where several of her friends hung out. Nick was there with some people she knew and he came up and said hello since it had been years that they’ve seen each other. They spent the evening talking and catching up. A few days later, Cait reached out to their mutual friends to try and time it so that she could “accidentally” run into Nick again. In the meantime he messaged her on Facebook with his phone number. She texted him a few times and they just couldn’t seem to get their schedules to match up. A few weeks later Nick invited Cait to go see her favorite band OAR in Philly. She couldn’t pass up this opportunity, so they went to the concert and had an amazing night dancing and singing along to their favorite songs. And, the rest is history!
Nick proposed at an OAR concert at Red Rocks in Colorado. This day is really emphasized by knowing and understanding that their first date was at an OAR concert in Philadelphia and the love they share for this band. The band’s whole theme of music is loving life and growing, which can be seen throughout their relationship. On the day of the concert at Red Rock’s, Nick had to find a way to get the ring from his carry-on bag to his tail-gating bag. After convincing Cait to use the bathroom one more time, he swiftly pulled it out of his carry-on and into his bag, noting later that it was initially stuck because he stuffed it in the smallest pocket. Then they headed to grab some drinks and food so that they could tailgate at the venue. Much to their surprise, they were the second people in line starting to enjoy their drinks and selfies together. Cait came up with the idea to yell up the stairs to the only other people in line, who were 6 tailgaters from Cheyenne, Wyoming. So Nick took the lead with a little push from Cait to climb the stairs to them and start a conversation. It wasn’t long until the conversation led to sharing the first spot in line and getting acquainted. While chatting, drinking, and talking about their favorite tunes from the band, time went by extremely quickly. There was one moment that Cait was looking for her phone, an often misplaced item of hers, and she decided to look in the bag which had the ring. Luckily she looked with her sense of touch and probably touched the ring box but was only focused on her phone. LOL! She failed to discover the ring and her phone, which was right next to her and the plans were beginning to thicken. Nick decided to let these new compadres in on his plans as he needed someone to video tape and take pictures. Nick and the group walked down the steep Red Rocks stairs to put their items away. It was at the bottom of the stairs, he revealed his ring in his bag and dramatically said, “I came here to propose.” The new friends were immediately excited for Nick and Cait and kept his secret for the rest of tailgaiting. The gates opened and Nick immediately went to buy a few drinks, of course, and more importantly a poster for the couple to commemorate this night on their home wall for the rest of their lives. The couple got to their seats in the stands, a beautiful view in the 10th row. The first band started playing and just as Nick allowed himself to take his first exhale of the night it began to rain very hard. This was not part of the plan, but the plan would not change, as the rain added exhilarating beauty to the night and the soon to come pictures! Right before OAR came on to perform, Nick gave a nod to the camera woman who started rolling. It was then when Nick grabbed Cait’s hand and got down on one knee. No sooner did the rain stop to allow OAR to put on the show of their lives, which Cait and Nick enjoyed to the fullest, truly making the day something they will both never forget!
