How Their Story Began
Their love story is what Joy refers to as a whirlwind romance. She was living in San Diego, CA and Dave was living in Columbus, OH. They started talking online in the beginning of 2017 and by the end of February they decided this was something and to “date” exclusively. In the beginning of March Dave went out to California for work and stayed for four days. After he left, Joy called her mom and told her that she was going to marry this guy. Her mom nearly fell off of her chair because Joy was always anti-marriage!
Dave went back out to California for work again at the end of March for two weeks. Before he flew out again, they booked a flight for her to go to Columbus after the two weeks in San Diego were up so that she could see where he lived and they could drive to Pennsylvania for him to meet her entire family. The flight that they booked for her to fly to Ohio and for him to meet her family turned into them also looking for a place together in Columbus. In May Joy left her home in California to move in with Dave in Columbus.
Joy loves Dave’s humor, his selflessness, his work ethic, and the love he has for his daughter and the way he and his daughter immediately blended in with her family. Dave loves Joy’s smile, the way they have fun together no matter what they’re doing or where they are, and her sense of humor. In their free time, they love to go out for drinks, take their dog Diego (since they met in San Diego they thought the name was only fitting!) to the dog park, travel, and just relax.
It was Friday, December 14th, 2018 and Joy had a big holiday work party. Her building is a high rise and the first 6 floors are rented to different companies and the 6-12 are residences. Joy and Dave happen to live on the 8th floor, and she works on the 2nd floor. All the girls from her employer were upstairs on the 12th floor and Dave texted her to come down. She assumed he got home and needed help figuring out what to wear for the evening. When she walked into their place there were candles and roses with Dave down on one knee playing guitar and singing Ed Sheeran’s Perfect with the gorgeous ring on the table next to him.
Joy and Dave will be getting married at The Booking House on June 21st, 2019. They are really looking forward to having all of their friends and families together. Joy is excited to see Dave at the end of the aisle, too!
