Courtney and Danny met at Penn State through a mutual friend on the very first weekend of their freshman year. They have been together for 7 years. After dating at Penn State, she moved back to her hometown in Rochester, NY and Danny moved back to his hometown in Harrisburg, PA. They continued dating long distance for 2 years, until she made the move to Harrisburg. Shortly after, she decided to go back to school to get her second bachelors in nursing at Penn State Altoona. They couldn’t imagine the thought of long distance again, so they moved halfway between Harrisburg and Altoona to a small town called Reedsville, PA. That way, she could commute to school in Altoona and Danny could commute to work in Harrisburg every day. Courtney recently graduated and they are now living in the beautiful town of Hershey, PA.
On April 1, 2017 (April Fools Day), Danny surprised Courtney with an awesome proposal. Family is so important to them, so Danny wanted to make sure that both of their families were a part of the proposal. What a challenge when both families live in different states! However, he pulled it off. Her mom just got remarried so she was selling the house that she grew up in. With her sisters’ help, they made plans for them to “come back home for one last weekend to say goodbye to the house.” Her older sister traveled from Tampa, FL and her younger sister from Pittsburgh, PA. They asked if she wanted to go to a winery close by in the Finger Lakes on the Saturday that they were home. Thank goodness she said yes! Because when she got to Ventosa, Danny brought her out onto the balcony overlooking the vineyards and proposed. As if that wasn’t good enough, when she turned around, 30 of their closest friends and family were standing on the balcony behind her. They traveled from all over to be there with them. Danny had rented out a party room at Ventosa, where they could all have lunch and celebrate afterwards. After hopping around to several other wineries in the area with their crew throughout the day, Danny surprised her with a room at Belhurst Castle where their family was staying. Courtney says it was truly the best weekend!
In their free time, they love to hang out with their family and friends. They also love to travel, but playing with their dog, Penny, is one of their favorite things to do. They enjoy cooking and entertaining, especially for Penn State football games. And they love sports, especially the Eagles, 76ers, Notre Dame, and of course, Penn State!
One of Courtney’s favorite memories from when they were dating was during Christmas of 2014. It was their first Christmas as graduates, which meant their first Christmas being long distance. They decided to celebrate a weekend early, so that they could both be with their families in their respective states for Christmas Eve and Day. She did the exciting 4 and a half hour drive to Danny’s house. Danny is one of six siblings, so it is constant chaos with people in and out of the house. However, when she walked inside, it was oddly calm and everyone was sitting in one room. Danny wanted to exchange Christmas gifts right away, which was weird because they usually visited a little first before doing gifts. She started handing out her presents to his family, when she looked up to a bright pink Victoria Secret bag. Out popped her puppy, Penny! She was so surprised! All she had talked about for years was how much she wanted a dog, and she couldn’t believe it was finally happening!
