Brooke & Joe met in high school around 10 years ago while working at the summer camp at their church. Brooke wasn’t too romantically taken with him at first, and they were both pretty crazy and young, so they became good friends instead. They led worship together every Friday night, which gave them a pretty strong foundation, and talked on AIM a lot. But, it wasn’t until one day when she was watching him clean up some wires on the music stage and saw his gorgeous smile that she really noticed him. Things kind of ebbed and flowed from that point on. They went through some really hard life seasons together, and then were kind of silent towards each other until the end of her senior year of high school. She had been through a rough year, but they were finally starting to reconnect. After many long talks in his car and a future-seeing walk on the beach, they realized that this was something to hold on to.
They began dating on June 23rd, 2013. That night, they were walking in Brooklyn and ventured into some sort of closed-off outdoor pavilion that looked like the Colosseum to Brooke. She thinks that they were hugging when one of them, or both of them at the same time, heard God speak. It might not have been an audible voice, but it was definitely a voice and a strong and clear knowledge that things were going to get really hard for them after that, but they needed to stick together and get through it.
And, it couldn’t have been more right. The journey they’ve been on together has been one of the most beautiful and unimaginable highs, but also devastatingly dark and confused lows. Through it all, God has been FAITHFUL. There hasn’t been one intense and fearful night that He wasn’t there with them. There hasn’t been one “high hill” that He didn’t bring them to (Habakkuk 3:19). They know that this story of theirs has been written for a reason, and that reason is mainly to be a part of His story. God gave them the strength to hold on to each other and to Him when all of man’s wisdom told them to just let go. The greatest miracle of all, so far, has been bringing them to their wedding day! Brooke’s gorgeous ring on her finger reminds her of the faithfulness of God and that nothing is too hard for Him to accomplish.
Brooke & Joe held their beautiful indoor ceremony and reception at Riverdale Manor in Lancaster, PA on March 3rd, 2019. Snow was in the forecast for the entire weekend, and it started snowing just after their ceremony. It was so magical!
