According to Heather, it was just another day at work, goofing off with her co-worker, Jaime and Mrs. Karen. Before she knew it, Zeus, the hospital’s new K9 dog, became the topic of conversation. She happened to mention that she thought Zeus’ handler was really cute, so Mrs. Karen said she was going to tell him. Heather didn’t mind! She honestly thought that Mrs. Karen was joking and that nothing would happen. Heather was scheduled to work the following weekend with Jaime, but ended up switching her shifts because she had plans. Her plans fell through so she ended up picking up the Saturday night shift. On Saturday before her shift, Jaime had texted her that “this guy” was asking Mrs. Karen to come get a picture of her. Heather could not believe this was really happening, so she told Jaime she had her permission to send Mrs. Karen a picture to show him. She got off Sunday morning and went home and slept. When she woke up, Jaime had texted her again saying now some red headed girl was up on the unit asking for her by name. Heather was so confused, as she had no idea who this girl was. (Little did she know at the time, but this red head was his friend, Claire, who is Heather and Pete’s officiant!) On Sunday night, Heather had a friend request on Facebook from Pete Morales, who then sent her a message. She couldn’t accept it right away; she had to make him wait until the next day! The conversation started with “Hey…Mrs. Karen told me you thought I was really nice and funny, but I swear I would remember talking to you.” She could do nothing but laugh because she did not say this at all! (Mrs. Karen was just trying to make it more PG.) So that she didn’t sound crazy, she told him that she never said any of that and that they had, in fact, never talked before. During that week, Pete had asked for Heather’s number, offered to meet up after work, and they had spent many sleepless nights on the phone together.
The next Saturday night she and her best friend, Raqui had Kevin Hart tickets. Raqui cancelled the morning of the show because someone in her family had been admitted to the hospital. A few hours before the show, Heather was scrounging to find someone to go with her to the show. She had asked Pete, among a few other friends. After drilling her with a million questions about what the expectations were for them going together (which she told him they were going as friends), he accepted her invite. They went to the show together and had a blast. Pete thinks this was their FIRST DATE. A few days after this, they were hanging out and he said “Happy 3 Day Anniversary.” She had no idea that they were dating! She kept turning the poor guy down. The following week he invited her to an Orioles game and she brought Raqui with her. All the while, Heather’s family had no idea she was talking to this guy. The week after that, he officially asked her out on a date to go see the movie Max with him, which she considers their FIRST DATE!
Heather never bring guys home to meet her family unless it’s serious. There was just something about Pete, even though she kept turning him down, she brought him home to meet her family on Father’s Day of 2015, after two weeks of knowing each other. Finally, on June 27, 2015, she agreed to officially be Pete’s girlfriend. Heather says he looked like a kid in a candy store and like a dork, he immediately updated his status on Facebook for the world to see. Agreeing to go out with this guy was the best decision she has ever made!
According to Pete, he was at work in the ER one night and he happened to walk over to the psych seclusion area where a co-worker that he knew was sitting. They were talking about life and she asked him if he was married. He told her no, and she said that there was a nurse that thinks he’s nice and sweet. With a confused look on his face, Pete asked where this nurse worked. Mrs. Karen said she worked on the 7th floor. He thought she was lying because he had never talked to anyone on that floor, or on any floor for that matter. He kept asking for her name and a picture, but she didn’t have one at the time. Now he’s intrigued at this point, so he talked to his good friend Claire about what just happened and she said, “I need to find this girl!” Pete told her she should go stalk Heather on the 7th floor and find out who she is for him, because if he were to walk up there in a police uniform it might raise questions or people might think that he’s a creeper. Claire happily and eagerly went to the 7th floor to find this mysterious woman who clearly doesn’t know him. Claire came back to him and said there were two Heather’s that work on that floor. He was like “Oh great, now how am I going to find her?” The next day Pete was up on the 6th floor where he met Mrs. Karen again and she showed him a picture of her. He quickly said “I can entertain that for a bit!” He told Mrs. Karen to let her know that he was interested. He went back to Claire and told her that he saw a picture and needed to meet this girl. After many long hours of research, he still had no luck finding her. Then Claire comes in and saves the day with a “I think I found her!” She said “There is a Heather that is friends with another friend of mine.” So he asked for the last name so he could see if he could find her on Facebook. While looking through the pictures, he stumbled upon the same picture Mrs. Karen showed him and I was like “Boom, got ’em!” He immediately dropped that friend request and messaged Heather. She kept him waiting until the next day to accept his friend request. Once she did, she responded back and said “LOL, Hey!” They started to talk about how he found her, so when he told her that Mrs. Karen approached him, she just started laughing. He asked for her phone number so they could chat rather than converse through FB. He told her he would come up to the floor and formally introduce himself the next day. She invited him over to her parents’ house on Father’s Day of 2015, and they were hooked. The rest is history and now here they are!
Heather and Pete had been talking about getting married and what the both of them want for a while. He had been asking her opinion on rings and asking her to send him photos of rings that she liked. She thought for sure the proposal would be later than it actually happened, so needless to say, she did not expect it at all and was totally surprised!
It was a typical Thursday where she had off work and Pete had training. She was at the grocery store when he got home. She came home from the grocery store and he and Christian were waiting for her to help bring the groceries up to the kitchen, like usual. She saw the blinds all messed up; the ones in the living room that overlook the driveway, and she remembered thinking that was weird, they must have been really anxious for her to get home. They all unpacked the groceries, and then Christian said he was going upstairs to play his game. She had looked around the kitchen and living room and noticed that Christian had vacuumed, so she yelled “Thank you for vacuuming, Christian!” thinking he was in his room, and she thought it was weird that he popped his head out of the stairwell right away and said “You’re welcome.” She went to open the fridge to put groceries away and there it was! The ring she had always dreamed of! She was so surprised and so shocked that she just stared at it for, what felt like, a good 30 seconds. Pete grabbed the ring and then turned her around, and she saw Christian getting it all on video. She couldn’t tell you anything Pete said, she just remembers yelling “Of course, of course!!!” After shaking and being so excited, she started asking questions. She knew his mom was flying into town to visit in 3 weeks. Come to find out, Pete had planned to do it when she came, and wanted to have Heather’s whole family there also. He said he picked the ring up from the store and called his mom and said he couldn’t wait and had to do it that night. They went out to dinner afterwards to celebrate and spent the whole night calling their friends and families!
June 8, 2018 was a beautiful day for a wedding! Heather & Pete held their outdoor ceremony and super fun reception at Riverdale Manor in Lancaster, PA. We loved capturing their day and being a part of their beautiful love story!
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Morales! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
Heather’s first look with her dad was the absolute sweetest! This is one of our favorite moments captured from the day. LOL! The guys were SO MUCH FUN! (The girls, too!) Hahaha!
