May 1, 2018
Your last year of high school is quickly approaching; what an accomplishment you’ve made thus far! This moment NEEDS to be remembered with a fun & personalized senior portrait session.
If you’re currently a junior (Class of 2019) and are thinking of having senior portraits done this summer, read these tips! They’ll help you prepare for your session and ensure an awesome experience and beautiful photos.
TIP #1: CHOOSING A LOCATION
Think about a location that’s special to you! Where do you and your friends hang out? Where do you go to grab a coffee or read a book? If you don’t have any ideas, no problem! We’ll provide you with a list of our most favorite places.TIP #2: INCORPORATING PROPS
How cute is Delaney’s prop?! We love when our seniors incorporate their sweet pets into their session, because after all, they are a part of who you are! Props also include sports related items, books, musical instruments, furniture, frames, banners, balloons, etc. The possibilities are endless!TIP #3: BE ADVENTUROUS
We’ll save these kinds of shots for the end of your session, but when Amber laid down in the water (in a white dress, at that!) we were ecstatic! These were some of our favorite photos from her session. So, don’t be afraid to get a little wet or dirty, because the photos and memories will be so worth it!TIP #4: PAMPER YOURSELF
Hair & make-up is included in our senior portrait collection, yay! Our seniors LOVE getting pampered by our girl, Brittany Sowers. Also, a day or two before your session, schedule an appointment to get your nails done (toes, too, if you wear sandals).TIP #5: ACCESSORIZE
Big floppy hats, statement necklaces, dangling bracelets & more! We encourage our seniors to bring a variety of outfits to change into for their session. Make sure you plan these outfits a week before your session and coordinate accessories to go with them. When it’s time for your session, pack your accessories in separate bags and hang all of your outfits on hangers so that they don’t wrinkle.BONUS TIP: TANNING
Sunburns are pretty tricky to correct during retouching as are suntan lines! Try to vary your shirt sleeves and bathing suit tops when tanning to avoid lines. We advise against a spray tan before a session; it will photograph orange and could be blotchy, darker in the knees, elbows, hairline, and other areas.
We hope these tips were helpful to you! Ready to work with us?! We’re certain we’ll have a blast working together and that you’ll want to show off your senior portraits to all your friends! Mom and Dad will want to display your photos in your home for many years to come.
